Wudang Mountain

Mount Wudang (at various times also known as Tai He and Xuan Yue) is in the northwest of Hubei Province, China. It is one of the most famous of all the Daoist sacred mountains, the legendary birthplace of Taijiquan and a centre for the inner alchemy training of Neidan. It is an area of 200 square miles with 72 peaks and 36 cliffs. During its heyday in the Ming dynasty, it had 9 main temples, 9 palaces, 12 pavilions, 36 halls, 39 bridges and 72 cave temples. It is now a world heritage site and many buildings have been restored. The particular exercises devised at Wudang mountain as basic training are not just for health but also as the precurser to all Wudang skills
